The Walls of Deception
You once pleaded with me to follow you through one of the Doors of Perception, but I didn't want to take that trip. No, I had my happy and successful future all mapped out, and it was supposed to put me on a different plane than the one you were flying high on.
Yet you were the one who landed laughing. My trip ended in a crash. You are still seemingly young and wild and free. The world can remain your oyster, with you as its pearl.
I am trapped here, where I have found myself encircled by walls which themselves are surrounded by trenches and barbed wire. This is a prison of my own making, a hellish price I pay for my deceit, my errors, my n

Moments
Remember that time we sat on the bench together, waiting for the bus? You were quiet, like you always were, and I thought nothing of it. But then you turned to me, an unreadable look in your eyes, and you asked me what I liked most about life. I just stared at you, unsure how to answer. You seemed to take my silence as something bad.
“Never mind,” You mumbled. “It was a stupid question.”
“No, no.” I hurried to assure you. “I was just thinking. What I like best about life would probably be all the little moments that happen that end up meaning so much and all the people you meet along the way.”

Welcome to Chapter 56.
Serene is trying to help Eric. To add yet another layer of mystery, Tevyn should not have felt her lightning attacks.
Eric is finally able to put Tevyn into submission - permanently. It took an enchanted sword, help from familiars, and more.
Just to tally, Eric now has a good cut on his arm, a broken arm, cracked ribs, twisted ankle, twisted knee, and a broken leg; in addition to bruises acquired during the first part of the scuffle.
Eric is in serious denial - either about Serene's state, or his ability to change it. Or, both. In either event, he should be thanking the dragons. They interrupted his powers, stopping him from continuing.
Did anything stick out here? If so, what was it? Why?
In any event, if you have feedback, I'm always happy to hear it.
Thank you.

It went "easier" than I thought.
I thought Eric stopped because he was drained or the operation was finished.
I don't understand what the shield's purpose was if it didn't prevent the dragons (or others) to intervene.
So much suspence!
